The Creative Mind Behind Every Visual Masterpiece
Amiri Geuka Farris is a contemporary artist who employs a diverse range of media in his art, including painting, drawing, video, performance, and installation.
As a black artist working today, he expertly manipulates abstract and representational elements, as well as traditional and contemporary techniques. In his own words: “I like to see artwork that will take one medium and use it to do something else. Artwork that is bold, expressive, and completely different.”
Rather than merely being inspired by the materials at hand, Amiri looks inward to his own life experiences for inspiration, resulting in intimate personal works that explore topics such as diaspora, culture, memory, and perception.
A true curative trailblazer, Amiri has been featured in over 50 solo exhibitions and juried museum shows nationally and internationally.
I am an interdisciplinary artist working in a variety of mediums, including painting, installation, video, and more. My work is heavily influenced by personal narratives and my interactions with history, culture, perception, and time.
I strive to blur the boundaries between traditional and contemporary modes of representation, in the hopes of creating a more cohesive understanding of the world around us.
